Hi there! My name is Salem, and I'm a 22-year-old slow traveler who is making her way around the globe one step at a time.

I'm originally from a small town in North Carolina, but I left home as soon as I graduated high school in pursuit of something more. Little did I know, I was searching in all of the wrong places.

You see, although I love traveling, I know it's not the gateway to life-long contentment. Traveling, just like anything else, can be a way to escape the harsh realities of life. When you start to feel uncomfortable in one place, simply pack up your bags and head to the next. Seems like a fool-proof plan, right?

Wrong.

No matter where you go or what you do in this world, if you do not take the time to get to know yourself, you'll always feel a bit "lost".

So, in the pursuit of travel, I've also been on a mission to explore all the facets of myself. From uncovering my fears to discovering my independence, this journey has been one that has pushed me in ways I didn't know existed.

And paring traveling with self-development; well, I believe it's the best formula for discovering who you are. When you're solo traveling, you are thrown into situations that are uncomfortable, unfamiliar, and scary. You are forced to speak up for yourself, talk to strangers, and do things alone. You are leaps and bounds outside of your comfort zone; which is where growth thrives.

I'm still on this journey; we all are. But I have gained valuable knowledge about how to live the life I’ve always dreamed for myself, and I am determined to spread this message, to people like you, all across the globe.
